FAQs

  • How does the admissions process at Dunwoody Prep work?
Our annual admissions dates coincide with those of the Atlanta Association of Independent Schools.

We conduct parent tours in January, February, and March. We have observation dates for each school year. We send invitations in the mail at the beginning of January to all parents who have inquired about admissions, or to parents who have put their names on our waiting list.

  • Where on the wait list is our child?
Dunwoody Prep has a wait pool rather than a wait list. If space becomes available in a certain age group, we look for a particular birthday that fits into the class group. Siblings of our present student body and siblings of children who are accepted into our preschool program always receive first priority.

  • How are the age groups at Dunwoody Prep divided?
Dunwoody Prep has four small groups of children in our infant and toddler nursery program. We have seven classrooms for children in our preschool program. We have a young three-year-old classroom for children who miss the September 1st cut off date and turn three years old in the fall of the year. We then have 3 three-year-old classrooms and three pre-kindergarten classrooms. Our oldest classroom, a young five-year-old group, often includes children who have summer birth dates (before the September 1st cut off date qualifying for kindergarten) but need a transitional year before going to kindergarten.

  • What type of security and safety features does the facility have?
The safety and security of our students and staff is something we take very seriously. We have a state of the art surveillance system. We have security cameras monitoring every classroom, every entranceway, all of our playgrounds, and all over the exterior of our buildings. We also have security locks on all entrances into our buildings.
